The service

Walnut Chess is a free chess coach. We may change, pause or end features, or the service, at any time.

Who can use it

You need to be 13 or older to make an account. A child of 5 to 12 can play on a kids account that their parent or guardian sets up, confirms and looks after; that grown-up accepts these terms for the child and is responsible for the account. See kids mode and the privacy policy.

Your account

Keep your sign-in details to yourself; you're responsible for what happens on your account. Give a real email address you can read. We may suspend or close accounts that break these terms.

Fair use

Don't use Walnut Chess to break the law, harass other players, disrupt or overload the service, scrape it, or get around its limits. Don't use the coach or the engine to cheat in games elsewhere.

What you add

What you add (games, messages, feedback) stays yours. You let us store and process it to run the service, as the privacy policy describes.

The coach

The coach's explanations are written by an AI working from Stockfish's analysis. They are usually right about the chess and sometimes wrong; treat them as advice, not fact.

No warranty

Walnut Chess is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. As far as the law allows, we aren't liable for any loss that comes from using it, or from not being able to.

Changes

We may update these terms and will change the date above when we do. Using Walnut Chess after a change means you accept it. Questions: email [email protected] or use Help & feedback in the app.
